No Sly on the small screen

Rambo_3
Two days after the news that Sylvester Stallone may reprise his classic John Rambo role for a Rambo TV series, the actor’s rep has revealed he is not coming back to star. Here’s what the actor’s press representative had to say in a statement:
<<While a television series based on the Rambo property is in development with Entertainment One and Nu Image, contrary to reports, Sylvester Stallone will certainly not reprise his role as the iconic John Rambo for the small screen.>>

Mickey Rourke’s name didn’t appear in the recent cast list from Lionsgate but now this Bulgarian news article states that he arrived at the Port of Varna on Wednesday (“with a big Mercedes G Class”). If this is the case then it just goes to show you that there still could be some surprises concerning the cast for Expendables 3!Here is a rough translation of the article:Varna. “Invincible” is decorate with replica jewelry 6,000 years. Varna Mayor Ivan Portnih surprise Sly and company gifts. He presented replicas of the oldest processed gold in the world, found in the Varna Necropolis. The gifts are not of gold but imitate yellow color of old jewelry. Portnih met with some of the actors are currently filming in Varna, the third part of the Hollywood super. The mayor stepped on set at the invitation of Avi Lerner, producer and owner of “New Image.” “Landlord” divorce mayor through the camp of Somali bandit stretch of Port Varna. He noted that in crowd scenes involved 1,200 people in the region.Later Ivan Portnih with Sylvester Stallone look of the footage in the tent turned into a makeshift assembly. Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes and even told the mayor details of the action sequences involving.”We were greeted very kindly by the team, the actors were friendly and shared some excellent impressions of the city. Were very intrigued by the lines of the oldest processed gold treasure discovered near Varna, which gave them,” said Ivan later Portnih. The “Invincible” 3 starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Harrison Ford. Mickey Rourke even arrived at the port of Varna on Wednesday morning with a big “Mercedes G-Class.” The super expected to go in theaters next August.”

We have some more photos from the set of EX3 this time showing the team fleeing from an explosion. From left to right it appears to be Lundgren, Stallone, Crews and Statham.
We also have a helicopter landing on a building and a billboard showing a dictator or leader of some sort:
Looks interesting, I’m looking forward to seeing the expendables in this setting and hopefully Mickey Rourke really is back in the series even if it’s just a small role.

Press Release from Lionsgate and Millennium Films on Expendables 3

by beingsly

exxx3

Lionsgate and Millennium Films have officially announced that filming has started along with the full cast and a synopsis. Here’s the press release:

Lionsgate and Millennium Films will begin principal photography today on THE EXPENDABLES 3, the third installment of THE EXPENDABLES action-thriller franchise, with production shooting on location in Bulgaria and at Nu Boyana Studios in Sofia.

THE EXPENDABLES 3 will feature Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to their roles in the first two films with Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson and Harrison Ford joining the all-star cast along with Kellan Lutz, MMA star Ronda Rousey, welterweight boxing champion Victor Ortiz and Glen Powell.

Patrick Hughes (RED HILL) will direct the film, with veteran Dan Bradley (The BOURNE franchise; MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL, QUANTUM OF SOLACE) directing the second unit. THE EXPENDABLES 3 is written by Creighton Rothenberger & Katrin Benedikt, who previously teamed on OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN, and Sylvester Stallone. Avi Lerner, Kevin King-Templeton, Danny Lerner and Les Weldon are producing THE EXPENDABLES 3. Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson and John Thompson are executive producing. Lionsgate will release THE EXPENDABLES 3 in North America and the UK on August 15, 2014.

In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

The production will be overseen by Lionsgate’s Jason Constantine and Eda Kowan.

The first two installments of THE EXPENDABLES have grossed nearly $600 million in combined global box office.
